To promote and preserve culture and heritage, the Aklan State University in partnership with the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), initiated the Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras through an inception meeting on October 18, 2023.
This initiative was sponsored by Sen. Loren Legarda, and was funded and implemented by the UPV in accordance with RA 11961, the Cultural Mapping Act.
Moreover, the ASU Team led by Dr. Carolyn F. Salazar will be working together with the UPV and the Local Government Units of Aklan.
The said mapping is set to start by November of this year, and will conduct trainings with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts on the early 2024.
