Phillipines' youngest organ donor

Updated: Dec 18, 2022

The three-year-old hero, Ezra Jacob Rosario, is now the youngest organ donor in the Philippines.

A drowning accident during his 3rd birthday with his twin Elijah on November 12 caused Ezra to be pronounced brain-dead.

According to Jennae Rosario, Ezra's mother, their family had decided to donate his son's operable organs.

HOPE-NKTI, the National Kidney and Transplant Institute's organ retrieval arm, declared that the three-year-old boy is now the program's youngest donor.

A 24-year-old was the recipient of both Ezra's kidneys, making it a successful transplant on the same day of harvesting it last November 12, 2022. Meanwhile, his corneas were successfully given to a 22-year-old and a 3-year-old recipient.

"No words can explain how we feel, and only time can tell how and when we can start to heal. The thought of our son being able to extend and improve the quality of lives of others successfully is a gift," Jennae Rosario stated in a Facebook post.
