Diokno: Government preps P1,000 inflation cash aid

As the nationwide inflation looms large, the government is preparing to subsidize some P9.3 billion for the most vulnerable sectors under the Targeted Cash Transfer (TCT) program.

According to Finance Chief Diokno, the program targets to help ease consumers’ burden amid the continuous high inflation rate.

Diokno said the TCT program will start soon as the government has already identified the funding source.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Annual Reception for the Banking Community, Diokno told the reporters that, right now the government is considering a two-month subsidy for consumers—this will be a continuation of the TCT.

The said cash aid will cover the “poorest of the poor” beneficiaries and will receive P1,000 which will be divided for distribution over two months. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) implements the TCT.
