ASU-SAS holds OJT Orientation Seminar



To be fully equipped in the workplace, students from AB English 4, BA ELS 3, BA Comm 3, and BS Bio 3 of Aklan State University-Main Campus attended a half-day OJT Orientation Seminar at ASU-Amphitheater on Friday.


Dr. Ma. Gemma P. Rasco, GAD Chair of School of Arts and Sciences discussed the Gender and Development, where she highlighted and gave tips about sexual harrasment and its repercussion.


"Be aware, be informed, and know your rights," Dr. Rasco advised.


Meanwhile, Ms. Glesi Lyn Sinag, Faculty of SAS Department and the Creative Director of TODO Media Services, talked about what a student trainee should expect in their assigned training agency, in behalf of Katodong Lilia Dela Cruz, Operations Manager of TODO Media Services.


Ms. Maria Solita Z. Guzman, Human Resource Management Officer II, Municipality of Kalibo, on the other hand, led a talk about how important a communication is, the do's and dont's during the internship, appropriate office attire, and the importance of first impression.


Moreover, Ms. Jean Christelle Nadate, LPT, MAED, Faculty of Bakhaw Norte Integrated School gave her testimony as an OJT Completer, in which, she encouraged the student trainees to excel, and reminded them that hardwork is not only for flat one graders, but the internship will prepare them for the actual work experience and environment.


At the latter part, an open forum was provided for students to address their questions.


Mr. Jonell Gregorio, BAELS Program Chair, also delivered his speech about his OJT experience to conclude the said event.


The internship's course objective is to inculcate human relations, provide the students with comprehensive hands-on training relevent to their area/field of specialization, and to develop professional working expertise.
