ASU launches revived DYMT

With the intent to use multimedia-based platforms to broadcast via online streaming, the Aklan State University launched its new version of DYMT Community TeleRadio on September 19, 2023 at the ASU Review Center.

The Department of Agriculture granted 2.42 million pesos to the DYMT Community TeleRadio through the Regional Rice Program, along with 960,000 and 1.6 million pesos to the Eskwela Radio Station and West Visayas State University.

“Reviving DYMT community radio using a webpage platform instead of terrestrial broadcasting format supports our effort and that of the Department of Agriculture's initiative towards digitization,” said Dr. Emily M. Arangote, SUC President of Aklan State University.

According to Department of Agriculture Regional Information Officer James Earl Ogatis, DYMT will enhance collaborations with the SUCs, local government units, and farmer cooperatives and associations.

“This community teleradio would act as a beacon of knowledge, a repository of ideas, and a catalyst for positive change,” said Michael Ibisate, ASU Campus Director.

The activities of the community radio station then stopped because of the typhoon Yolanda in 2013, and was revived through the proposal of Juvy Casimero to create an interschool broadcasting laboratory in Aklan State University.
