4 School Pubs raise the ASU banner high in COPRE 2022



Big wins for ASU!


Among 55 student publications across Western Visayas, Eamigas, The Wave, The Blooms, and Ro Sueo publications shone as they raised the banner high for Aklan State University after bagging several awards during the College Press Conference and Awards (COPRE) 2022.


The said event was held at Jade Hall Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City, on December 21, with the theme, "Campus Journalism Rising Above and Beyond the Pandemic."


Eamigas Publication, the official publication of Aklan State University-Main Campus won 4th Place as Best Facebook Page among the 55 student publications across the region, bagged four (4) individual awards, and took spots in COPRE 2022.


The winners are as follows:

Jelyssa Angela Ribo - 1st Place (Sports Writing - English)

Fhenzie Dhana Retoiano - 1st Place (Sports Writing - Filipino)

Kate Yoselin Iledan - 2nd Place (News Writing - English)

Andromeda Isar - 5th Place (News Writing - Filipino)

Angelika Twinkle Mae Auro, Features Editor, and Aldrin De Claro Jr., Junior Photojournalist, won 1st Runners-up during the Mr. and Ms. COPRE 2022.


The Blooms Publication, the official publication of the School of Arts and Sciences at Aklan State University-Main Campus, won five (5) awards in individual categories.


The winners are as follows:

Ruthsel Cuadernal - 1st Place (Feature Writing - English)

Gerald CJ Moribus - 1st Place (Copyediting - Filipino)

Chandelmer Ginoy - 3rd Place (Photojournalism - English)

Athea Trisha Dalumpines - 3rd Place (Feature Writing - Filipino)

Joshua Manzon - 5th Place (Feature Writing - English)


Ro Sueo Publication, the official publication of the College of Teacher Education at Aklan State University-Main Campus, won 2nd place in the Best in Departmental Magazine Category and 3 individual awards.


The winners are as follows:

Marielle R. Saballero - 3rd Place (Copyreading - English)

Klyde Francis R. Dela Cruz and Imee Dela Torre were hailed as the new Mr. COPRE 2022, and Ms. COPRE 2022 2nd runner-up, respectively.


Meanwhile, The Wave Publication, the official publication of Aklan State Univerty-New Washington secured 2 individual awards.


The winners are as follows:

John Andy De Juan - 4th Place (News Writing - Filipino)

Chelsea Marie P. Castillo - 4th Place (Copyreading - Filipino)


The said event was the longest-running writing tilt in Western Visayas, organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region VI.
